Final Touch-ups to the painted spikes, adjustments for overspray and clear coating completed. The original eyes were yellow and small. I had some larger green eyes that work much better with Pamela’s colors. After adding a sufficient amount of silicone glue to the center of the metal eye rings, the new eyes were inserted. Fortunately, I had selected one of the green colors to match the eyes.
Pamela has a few reptile friends that like to keep her company along with her Dinosaur friends Teresa & Angie the Triceratops and Augustynolophus. Now it’s time to complete Pamela’s new base. The rain gave growth to a number of weeds that need attention before the concrete can be applied. The metal frame that supports Pamela will receive a final coat of paint to match the concrete base when completed.
Allosaurus: A Walking with Dinosaurs Special (2001)
(Available on Netflix, check with your local library or amazon.com)
This is a great program even though it was made 17 years ago. Big Al the most complete Allosaurus found to date provides inspiration for a Tale of how he might have lived. He was discovered in the Wyoming Morrison Formation location in 1991. Nineteen of Al’s bones reflect injuries that aided in the creation of a possible story of his life.
The discovery of Willow a Thescelosaurus at the North Carolina Museum Natural Sciences contains a fossilized heart. The study of its heart indicates it is more like birds or mammals, confirming that dinosaurs were fast moving animals. A study reported in 2011 indicated the mass was not a heart. However, this does not impact Dinosaurs relationship to crocodiles and birds. Nor does it impact the theories regarding metabolism. With continued advances in equipment and new fossil finds maybe we’ll find a dinosaur heart to confirm what we believe about Dinosaur metabolism. Another 10 year anniversary for Willow is not far off.
Discoveries of dinosaur embryo bones on Portugal’s Atlantic Coast are discussed.
The DVD includes 4 additional features: Big Al Uncovered, Making Walking with Dinosaurs, Extreme Dinosaurs: The Science of Giants and Living with Dinosaurs.
Walking with Dinosaurs (1999)
