After allowing the concrete to cure it was time to paint. A trip to the Camarillo Sherwin-Williams store to select the colors. This time I was working toward a granite stone look. I decided on 3 colors Gibraltar, Cyberspace and Offbeat Green. Edrees at Sherwin-Williams was very helpful in providing a second opinion on the choices and mixing the paint. The Gibraltar grey provided the main color. Cyberspace a much darker grey aided in contrasting and making some of the crevices look deeper. The Offbeat Green will give the appearance of moss on the stone.
I have leftover paint from the first rock from concrete project (see posts “Creating a Special Place for Your Dinosaur to Perch part 1 & 2” February 23, 2018 & March 2, 2018). These colors will assist with adding accents, as well. Craven Clay dabbed here and there along the bottom edges of the concrete will appear as mud. Memorable Rose & Dynamo add a sprinkle of color to the granite look. Calypso will again provide the water feature.
I will make some minor touch ups – adding more moss color for one. Then I will give it a couple of days to be sure I have no more adjustments to make. Once I’m completely satisfied I will add a high gloss clear coat to the Calypso blue to give it a little sparkle. Then it will be time for Pamela to stand on her new perch. After choosing the right position, I will add cables to secure her for windy days.
We have 2 new arrivals to the Park. Calvin & Hobbes named after my favorite comic strip characters by Bill Watterson. They came from Somis Koi. See other Dinosaurs available under the Needing Rescue/Adoption tab.
