After completing touch ups and adding the clear coat to the Calypso blue, it was time for Pamela to take position on her Special Place. I painted Pamela’s support frame Granite grey to blend in with the new rock base.
I have a large amount of pipe insulation – long painful story, but it was time to turn those lemons into lemonade. The Insulation is a charcoal grey and fits around Pamela’s support frame perfectly. It provides a nice cushion. It also protects the frame and new concrete base from scrapes. I placed towels over the base to safeguard it while moving Pamela into position. After I’m sure of the angle of placement, I will paint the frame with additional accents to blend in with the base. I will have it appear like branches or part of the stone and water falls.
The Bug Fair was a lot of fun. Tarantulas in hand and just about every bug you can image in glass covered boxes. Even carnivorous plants! Many of the Halls were filled with vendors, collectors and the curious. I found some wooden dinosaurs at “A Lost Art”. They had wooden frogs that when you rub a stick along their back it creates the sound of frogs croaking. Check out their site www.aLostArt.com I ordered a wooden Dinosaur set online. When you blow into a hole on their backs they make dinosaur sounds. I’ll keep you posted. I visited the Gems and Mineral Hall and discovered a metal T-Rex & Brontosaurus on mineral bases. I couldn’t resist purchasing a couple.
The Butterfly Pavilion was a favorite stop. The butterflies were calmer than usual with the overcast sky. This provided a great opportunity for photos. It’s a good place to learn about the best plants to attract butter flies too!
Of course, I couldn’t leave without a trip to Dinosaur Hall. The video displays always provide a wealth of knowledge. After I have an Amargasaurus built for the Park, the Carnotaurus is next on the list. There is a wonderful display of one in Dinosaur Hall. I paid extra attention to it this trip.
Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend!
