I hope All of You had a Wonderful Thanksgiving and are Enjoying Your leftovers. It was Turkey, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Salad at the Park. I bet You can Guess what each Dinosaur ate!
And of course, there was Pie. Strawberry Rhubarb and Chocolate Pecan! I found the Chocolate Pecan to be a specialty of Trader Joe’s. Unfortunately, I purchased a regular Pecan Pie at a store that carried the Strawberry Rhubarb. Marie Calendar’s was out of the Strawberry Rhubarb. However, I remembered seeing them at Wholesale Foods Market. I was determined to have Chocolate Pecan Pie and I didn’t want to venture out again on Thanksgiving Eve. So, I added a square of Trader Joe’s 72% Cocoa Large Dark Chocolate bar to a slice of Pecan Pie. Microwaved it for a minute and Voilà! Chocolate Pecan Pie. Depending on the size of your slice you may want to add more than one square of the chocolate bar. Now I know my first stop for Chocolate Pecan Pie is Trader Joe’s!
Last week we left off with Maximilian (Max) in his primer coat. I like the Hammered Copper spray paint for his underside. I found a Hammered Brown that I thought would be great for Max’s primary color. It appears more like a Dark Taupe than Brown to me. Regardless, the two colors look Great together! I used Kona Brown for the Claws. Sorry I was so excited how they turned out I forgot to take pictures of the masking process. I used blue tape first than plastic bags & blue tape to cover the rest of the arms and legs.
After masking off the mouth area, Stone Grey was the color of choice for the mouth. I was able to position a couple of plastic bags over the teeth while the mouth was still masked (not shown). This allowed for painting the tongue with minimal overspray. Apple Red Metallic worked well for the tongue. The metallics reflective qualities provides the look of moisture.
Marigold for the eyes. Purple was used to highlight the nice details in the metal around the eyes. Red was used as an additional accent. However, it didn’t show well from a distance. Turquoise was the final choice. I thought of using the Turquoise as additional body accents too. Ultimately, I decided less is more and painted over them. I touched up the red over spray in the mouth and painted the teeth a French Cream. All of these accents were applied by spraying paint into the cap of the can and using an artist brush.
After letting the paints cure a day or two, it was time for the final clear coating. Now Max Stands Guard! I am very pleased with the color combinations and Max likes them too! Dominic the 6 foot plus T-Rex was also impressed with this new color combination. Dominic will get these same new colors. He was originally painted in June of 2015. The paint has held up very well but a refresh will be a nice change. Stay tuned for Dominic’s Makeover!
