What does Valentine’s Day mean to You? Valentine’s Day is celebrated with Flowers, Candy, Cards, Romantic Dinners and sometimes marriage proposals. When I was in Elementary School, we exchanged Valentine’s Day Cards with friends and those that we hoped would become special friends.
At the Park the Dinosaurs & other Prehistoric Pals have been busy making Valentine Cards to share. Stephanie the Stegosaur’s Scales make you think of Valentine Hearts. Spike the Spinosaurus greets Visitors with a Valentine Heart. Of course, there’s See’s Candies – Dark Chocolate – Bordeaux, Butter Cream, Carmel & Truffles. And It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without Heart Shaped Brownies made by Max this year. Molten Chocolate Cakes from Williams-Sonoma will be the next to pop in the oven. They are really easy to make and extremely delicious! As always Antonio the Pterosaur makes the trip to Paris for some decadent treats from a French Chocolatier. Antonio had a nice visit with his friends from “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” who decided to make Paris their permanent home.
We discovered the new raptors that joined the Park are actually Cupid Raptors! Also known as Cupidors of the Cupidsauroidea Family. They are ready to shoot their “Love” arrows at Passersby. We could certainly use a lot more love in the world. Their bows & arrows are made of Wisteria Vines, String and Heart shapes cut from Red and Bright Pink Cardstock. I chose the Wisteria Vine for its flexibility and because one of my vines needed pruning. The bright colored string was left by the contractor, who used it to mark the footings for the foundation of my home. It’s Great to Recycle! The Cardstock is from Michael’s Arts & Crafts. It comes in various sizes and color combinations, which is perfect with all the projects at the Park.
A tip for making hearts. Fold the paper in half draw and cut half a heart so the fold is the center of the heart. This way both halves will match. I used the first heart as a template for the others for the arrow project. Four hearts for each arrow. I made cuts on the hearts for the bottom of the arrows to give them a feathered look. Starting with the top of the Arrow I place glue on one of the hearts attach the vine and then another heart so there is a heart on each side of the vine sticking to each other. Same process for the feathered hearts at the bottom of the Arrow. The bow was easy just tie string to both ends of the vine. You decide how much of an arc you want by the length of the string. Wire secured the arrow to the bow with string stretch over the end of the arrow.
It’s a Great Day to connect with Friends and Family. However You decide to Celebrate Valentine’s Day make sure you do something Special for Yourself.
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
