First How I finished Jeffrey’s Wizard Hat and Staff. Starting with the cone shape, I placed it on the fabric pointing toward one of the corners. Rolling it toward the other edge allowed me to determine the amount of fabric needed to cover it. Then I cut extra at the large opening of the cone to be tucked and glued inside. Next the ring section, was set on the fabric to provide enough to cover both sides. Remember, “Measure Twice Cut Once”! I used Scotch brand super 77 Multi-Purpose Adhesive spray to attach the fabric to the cardboard. It bonds to fabric, cardboard, plastic, metal, wood, felt and they indicate photo safe too. Make sure you follow the directions on the can and use in a well-ventilated room or outside. Before attaching the Ring Section, a hole punch made two holes to attach a fabric strap to hold the hat to the Jeffrey’s head. A second fabric strap will keep the staff attached to Jeffrey’s hand. The straps were made from the edges of the fabric, due to the extra texture details there. Packaging Tape connected the two pieces of the Hat prior to completing the gluing of the Fabric to the bottom of the Ring section. My completed costume revealed below, as well. “Monsters Among Us” and one is hiding in the Museum! It’s been Lurking in the Halls, Scattering Researchers Papers & Jostling Specimen Jars. The Staff believe it’s Hiding Deep within the Basement! Who will have the Courage to look for the Monster?
The Museum Halls are filled with Creatures to Fascinate You on Your Quest to find the Monster! From Anthropology to things that Crawl, Fly & Swim there’s something for Everyone to learn. Plus, Beverages, Sandwiches & Snacks to keep You strong during your Hunt for the Monster. All were in their Halloween Best! The costumes were Great! I’m the Dinosaur Wizard and Jeffrey “The Green” the “Raptor Wizard”. Our first stop is an Egyptian Tomb then after a snack we visit Dinosaur Hall. I may have cast a spell to bring the Dinosaurs back to Life at Sunset on Halloween. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Next, we discovered Antarctic Dinosaurs. Antarctica was a lush forest during the reign of the Dinosaurs. It’s possible another chilly spell was cast there. In the Discovery Center you could make Scary Spoons, Monster Masks with Paper Plates and Slime in 3 Colors! The Dinosaur Institute displayed Mosasaurus skull fossils – one the Largest ever found – along with an Ichthyosaurus Skull.
I purchased another set of Pumpkin Masters Tools. This set from Home Depot. The new set has additional carving knifes and a crayon for drawing or transferring images from the attached booklets. The previous set is over 3 years old and the carving knifes may need some sharping. However, I like the pointed tool for marking my drawing in the first set over the newer design. I used the crayon to draw the concept inspired by the book cover of “The Paleoart of Julius Csotonyi” a carnivore in pursuit of a ceratopsian.
