There is a great deal of clean-up to do before the trees start bursting out with blooms & leaves. A large pine tree died by the street. The cut branches can be used for fire wood and the ash makes a nice enrichment to the soil. But they can also be used in the landscape as decoration, perches for Prehistoric Pals, platforms for solar lights and seating for humans. Everyone is helping with moving the branches and stumps. I didn’t have the tree cut all the way to the ground. An 8 foot+ high trunk could be a nice place for a Pterosaur to rest. Hey, is that one circling overhead already?
The Bearded Iris still needs separating. I should have finished that in August. I’m almost finished with pruning all the roses. I missed the time for planting tulips and daffodils. Well, there’s plenty of time for next year’s spring. I have gopher issues. Therefore, I must make wire baskets to protect my plantings. The Gopher Purge or Euphorbia Lathyris helps discourage them, but it is poisonous. You’ll have to decide whether it will be safe for your situation. It does have a Prehistoric look to it.
David is enjoying his perch high on Tyrannosaur Terrace. Some visitors from Camarillo, California stop by to meet the Prehistoric Pals and took a moment to pose with David. We might have some new young Paleontologists after this visit!
