Stanley is very happy with his new look. Although the inside of his mouth needed a little Berry Gloss, which has been completed. We are debating whether or not to add more details to the Scales & Spikes. A look at Stephanie’s makeover and the details that were added to her Scales & Spikes is helping with the decision. Stephanie gets some Cobalt Blue Metallic to her claws and the “Got Milk” look from the detail for the beak. It still looked like applied lipstick, so Hammered Grey covered it up. If the Artist making the Stegosauruses had added metal to create a beak at the end of the mouth it would have been a different story. Perhaps as I continue practicing my drawing & painting, I will get better at creating these details with paint.
Masks are important protection for our safety these days. However, we can make them more friendly. Using a pencil, followed by a pen and water colors I created two styles – a carnivore and sauropod. Note: Sauropods have sharp teeth for tearing vegetation not chewing. They swallow rocks that help grind the vegetation up in their stomachs. Have fun with color. Vinegar & Food Coloring might be an alternative to Artist Watercolors.
A couple more of the “Dinosaur Drums” were completed. “The Paleoart of Julius Csotonyi: Dinosaurs, Sabre-Tooths and Beyond” by Julius Csotonyi & Steve White provided inspiration for these Dino-Drums Art. More cool poses of an Albertosaurus & the Tyrannosaurus were perfect! I used a 2B pencil to make the sketch and a kneaded eraser for touch-ups. An ink pen over the pencil and watercolors to finish. What do You think? Kids from 1 to 92 can have Fun Drawing & Coloring a Dinosaur Scene on the Cloth. Be creative – use Markers, Watercolors, Glitter, Feathers – whatever brings these Drums to Life for You! Colored Paper, Stickers and more can be used to add designs to the sides of the Drums if You desire. See post March 20, 2020 “Dinosaur Drums are Calling” for all the steps to make Your “Dinosaur Drum”.
