While updating my “Needing Rescue / Adoption”, I discovered Morro Bay had a Raptor like the two I adopted from the Miner’s Nipomo Hardware Store in January of 2019. Ever since then, I have been searching for more of their design. I even created a “Wanted Poster” highlighting their unique qualities. I provided a copy to a number of Miner’s Stores to be on the Lookout.
When I received texts of the Dinosaurs seeking new homes from the various Miner’s Hardware Stores, I was very excited to see the Raptor available at Morro Bay. I immediately contacted Anya at Morro Bay to Adopt this Raptor. Based on the size of the Jerry & Jeffrey, the new Raptor would easily fit in the back seat of my ’97 Sebring convertible. A picture can be difficult to determine the size of objects without having something in it of a known size to give you proper perspective. Therefore when I arrived at Morro Bay, I was surprised to find the New Raptor was much Larger than Jerry & Jeffrey. We had to play a little “Turning Turtle” to fit her into the back seat of the Chrysler Convertible – head first behind the passenger’s front seat pushed all the way forward, on her back tail sticking out the driver’s side rear window. If You’ve seen “Mary Poppins Returns You know about Turning Turtle! The car cover and a heavy plastic sheet provided cushion and protection for the car. Additional plastic sheets were wrapped around the feet and base frame to protect the convertible top when closed.
Before leaving Morro Bay I posed with the 9 foot tall T-Rex and the 3 headed Dragon (add’l pictures for Morro Bay Miner’s under Needing Rescue / Adoption page). We made a quick stop at Sea Oaks Canyon Ranch on Hwy 41 on the way back. Notice the Large t-Rex with a full size surfboard in it’s mouth in the background. Surfers whereabouts unknown. A visit to the Atascadero, San Luis Obispo & Goleta Miner’s Stores were worthwhile before returning to the Park. Once home you could certainly see the size difference between the Raptors. Jeffrey & Jerry are the size of a Velociraptor (5 – 6 feet long, 18 – 28 in hip height) or Dromaeosaurus (similar size to Velociraptor). The new Girl probably a young Deinonychus (10 – 11 feet long, 36 – 42 inches high at the hip) or Utahraptor (20 – 23 feet long, 6 feet at the hip). The shadow the Clever Girl casts at night is scary to behold!
The newest arrival is a “Clever Girl” indeed!
Stay Tune for a unique painting concept for this Special Girl!
