We left off with the Raptors in their Rust Reformer Coatings. Now it’s time for a Primer Coating. Clever Girl will have a Hammered White for her major upper body. Therefore, I’m using a White Primer for her. Brison & Xavier will receive a Rusty Brown Primer color. The hardboards I use while working with the Dinosaurs are available in 4 foot X 8 foot sheets. I find the 2 foot X 4 foot sheets easier to work with – fitting in my car and storing in the garage between projects. They provide the added flexibility of positioning based on the size and shape of your Prehistoric Pal.
All three Raptors receive Gold Rush Metallic for their undersides. I have used the Gold Rush Metallic as a signature color for the undersides of All the Raptors at the Park. While on their sides to assist with reaching the underneath areas, I painted the bottom of their base frame supports with Hammered Brown. As Mentioned, The Clever Girl will receive Hammered White for the top and outer areas while Brison & Xavier receive Hammered Deep Green.
Blue tape, recycled plastic bags and a large sheet of plastic from packing materials provide the means to mask of the mouth of the Clever Girl and protect the her from any over spray. Hammered Gray is the color choice for the mouth. After curing for a couple of hours the materials are removed. Brison & Xavier will receive the same treatment. Their Teeth and Tongues will be painted later. Gloss Marigold is a nice color for the eyes. Artists Brushes and spraying the paint into the can caps is my method to complete this task. Hammered Brown for all the claws using the Artist Brushes again.
Stay Tuned for Color More Details for the Raptors!
More Visitors at the Park. Michael & his son Nathan frequently view the Dinosaurs through the gate as part of their walk before Nathan’s Nap Time. They are Down the Street Neighbors. Michael is originally from Australia. When Nathan was born Grandma, Aunt and cousins from Australia made a visit to the Park. So far they are the Longest Distance Visitors. This week Michael & Nathan were able to have a “Safe Distance Tour” that allowed them to get up close to the Prehistoric Pals. Nathan really likes the baby brontosaurs. May You All Have Wonderful Dinosaur Dreams!
On June 5th The American Natural History Museum presented “Big Bones and Dino Dig” via YouTube with host Emanuel Tschopp Research Associate. A 2018 video of the Morrison Formation to cover the Constantine S. Niarchos Expedition (which is still ongoing) with Mark Norell – Macaulay Curator, Division of Paleontology and Octavio Mateus, New University of Lisbon, Portugal kicked off this event. This Formation has All the World Famous Dinosaurs from the Jurassic Period – Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Diplodocus and more! This Expeditions Focus is searching for smaller Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Animals that were ignored by the first Dinosaur Hunters of the 1870’s that were looking for Big Dinosaurs to fill their Museums Halls. It’s a painstaking process and the primary tools are the same as those of the first Dinosaur Hunters even more than 100 years later.
Emanuel provides a video tour of the Big Bone Room which include bones collected in the 1870’s from Cope’s Expeditions in the Morrison Formation. Check out the Museum’s site and YouTube Videos & Schedules for Live Streaming! (see below eLearning)
