We discovered three of the Raptors at the Park are actually Cupid Raptors! Also known as Cupidors of the Cupidsauroidea Family. They are ready to shoot their “Love” arrows at Passersby. We could certainly use a lot more Love in the World. These Raptors thrive on Valentine’s Day.
You’re probably wondering, How do they make their Bows & Arrows? Well, first they have to select the right wood. After checking out all the trees in the Park, the Wisteria Vine turned out to be perfect for the task. Measure twice cut once is their motto. Brightly colored string to arc the bow and colored paper to create the heart shaped points & tails of the arrows.
I find folding a piece of paper in half, drawing one side of the heart, then cutting the half makes it much easier to have both sides the same shape & size. With the paper template you can outline the heart on the colored paper. Make two hearts for each end of the arrow. Apply glue to wood and paper. Place the wood on one heart. Then attach the second heart. Use a pair of Scissors to feather the hearts at the trailing end of the arrow. Small amounts of thin wire can attach the arrow to the bow and help the Raptors hold it all.
Check out posts February 8, 2019 “Raptor Cupids?” & February 7, 2020 “The Raptor Cupids are Back!” to see how the smaller bows & arrows were made for Jeffrey & Jerry. Valentine’s Day is a Great Time to connect with Friends and Family. However You decide to Celebrate the Day make sure you do something Special for Yourself.
