I finished the rest of the Ocean on the box using Regular Printer Paper. Construction Paper will work just as well for Your Ocean Box. I planned on using Watercolor Paper and will finish that Artwork (stay tuned). However, the Watercolor Paper is too stiff to wrap the box. Therefore, the Regular white paper worked best for my Ocean. I started with a Pencil Drawing, went over with Ink, used a Kneaded Eraser to remove the extra pencil marks and Colored with Sharpies.
The Stick Glue didn’t work as well as I expected. Fortunately, the Invisible Tape was great at attaching the paper drawings to the box. I filled the gaps in the paper with Drawings of Sea Plants also Colored with Sharpies. After finishing the sides of the box, it was clear the current Ocean Top needed replacing. Two Blue pieces of the Construction Paper would cover the Top and provide coverage for the spaces missed by the regular paper on the sides.
A Measuring Tape assisted in the proper placement of the Blue Paper on Top. After marking for the holes to reconnect with the fasteners, waves were drawn on the Blue Paper. I used an X-acto Knife to Cut the Waves. You could use Scissors. Folding the Waves made by the cuts gives You a 3D Ocean. Reattach the Blue Construction Paper to the Box with the fasteners make a cut in the corners to fold them down and Invisible Tape to hold in place.
Add the hanging Ocean Animals back to Box. I used Paper Clips for the Hangers. Depending on the ages of the participants in this Craft You may want to use Rubber Bands instead. The Prehistoric Pals are enjoying Our New Ocean.
Mosasaurs and Plesiosaurs were not Dinosaurs. They were Prehistoric Reptiles and probably Warm Blooded too! Plesiosaurs gave birth to live young like Whales & Dolphins. A Plesiosaur fossil was discovered with a fully developed infant inside to confirm this. It’s also believed they cared for their young. Embryos were discovered in Mosasaurs without preserved Egg Shells. This suggested they may have also had live births. All Dinosaurs lived on Land. While many Dinosaurs may have waded or swam in Oceans & Lakes, they lived on Land.
More Blending of Calvin’s Racing Green Metallic & Copper Rose Metallic is needed. I thought I would add more Spots on the sides, plus some on his legs and back with the Copper Rose. We weren’t happy with the result and I painted over them with the Racing Green Metallic. I went down further than before on the sides with Racing Green during the paint over. Never be afraid to Try Something New! You can always paint over what doesn’t appeal to You. And You never know what You might discover in the process.
A New Concept for the Blending is in the Works. Stay Tuned for the Reveal!
