As previously mentioned, the inspiration for the Triceratops makeover is the Peacock. Their Shields provide the perfect canvas to explore this concept. The size of Teresa’s Shield vs. Paul’s & Christopher’s allows for more opportunities to continue the male & female design differences as they are in birds. The light violet “Magic Wand” Behr’s Marquee Exterior Semi-Gloss Enamel has been applied over the primer base on all three Triceratops. Since the Zinsser Cover Stain Primer was tinted to match The Magic Wand Semi-Gloss Enamel addition is probably not noticeable in the photos. A little more detail to the darker violet “Unimaginable” trim around Teresa’s Shield and touchups to Paul & Christopher were completed.
I made paper templates for the Peacock concept on the Triceratops Shield. The guides will assist with outlining in Gold Rush Metallic Paint that I will hand brush. I used sharpie markers to color two different sizes of templates. The two sizes help determine which will provide a better fit and if a second row of the design is possible. In addition, they provide a great visualization for what is coming next!
The Brontosaurs are loving the addition of Gloss Maui Blue spots along their bodies and for their eyes. The spots will require additional coats, which will allow for making more natural shapes. Stuart & Gary receive some diamond shapes on their heads while Cindy settles for more tiny spots. Jerome & Marta the resident Greyhounds are checking it all out. The Necks & Tails for All Three look Great! However, We All agree more Maui Blue Spots are needed on the Body for Stuart & Gary.
Many animals that ruled the Triassic World went extinct by the end of this Period. The Global Warming caused by the Volcanic Gases started another mass extinction. Almost All the Crocodile & Supersalamanders died. A few species of crocs survived – the ancestors of today’s alligators & crocodiles. The smaller species of the salamanders survived leaving us with today’s hand size varieties. For some reason the Dinosaurs survived! Scientists don’t know why. As the planet cooled Dinosaurs with their major competitors gone could take over the World.
In the Early Jurassic Period Dinosaurs diversified and begin their spread around the World. Scelidosaurus discovered in England at 15 feet long and 3 feet high, an early member of the family that Stegosaurs and Ankylosaurs belong. Dilophosaurus in North America & Asia. A twenty foot long, 1,100 lb. Carnivore and close relative of the slightly larger Cryolophosaurus in Antarctica. Barapasaurus in India. A 60 foot long 55 ton Sauropod.

Note: from the study of Dilophosaurus fossils, there is no indication that it spit venom or had the fan frills as seen in the Jurassic Park Movies. Since the movie premise was to fill the gaps in the Dinosaurs DNA with other animals, perhaps they “found a way” to add these attributes to their movie dinosaur.
The Three Major Groups of Dinosaurs are Ornithischians (included Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus), Theropods (a group that would contain the largest and scariest Predators we could ever imagine) & the Sauropods that would become the largest land animals to walk the Planet. By the Late Jurassic many of our favorites were thriving (Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus).
Allosaurus & Stegosaurus at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles from one of my many visits. The Brachiosaurus digital painting is a wonderful example of the artwork by Julius Csotonyi that you will find in his book “The Paleoart of Julius Csotonyi Dinosaurs, Sabre-Tooths and Beyond” I purchased mine on Amazon.

I used watercolors to make Dinosaur Designs on my N95 Masks. I couldn’t get a yes or no from 3M regarding any impact this might have to the effectiveness of the mask. Many Museums sell Dinosaur Themed Masks Check them Out!
