What does Valentine’s Day mean to You? Valentine’s Day is celebrated with Flowers, Candy, Cards, Romantic Dinners and sometimes marriage proposals. When I was in Elementary School, we exchanged Valentine’s Day Cards with friends and those that we hoped would become special friends.
At the Park the Dinosaurs & other Prehistoric Pals have been busy making Valentine Cards to share. Stephanie the Stegosaur’s Scales make me think of Valentine Hearts. Spike the Spinosaurus greets Visitors with a Valentine Heart. Although I would be cautious of a Carnivore holding a Heart that says “Be Mine”. Hopefully it doesn’t mean “Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner”! Of course, there’s Chocolate! We have a Chocolate Mousse Cake for Valentine’s Day. Ok, we couldn’t wait until Valentine’s Day and took a little off the ends. Alright a lot off the ends! Whether it’s Candies, Cakes, covered Fruit or other delights they all bring smiles & joy to the taste buds. Just don’t overdo it!
The Cupidsauroidea Family.
Cupidsauroidea or Cupidsauria a Family of Dinosaurs that developed Archery Skills named after the human Cupids by Paul Heinzman on February 8, 2019. Initially Paul discovered three of the Raptors at the Park having this trait aka Cupid Raptors or Cupidors by Paul. They shoot their “Love” arrows at Passersby bringing Joy and Happiness to All those in range. We could certainly use a lot more Love in the World. These Raptors thrive on Valentine’s Day.
Originally, only Velociraptors were thought to have this adaptation. However, in February 2021 Paul uncovered that T-Rexes, Spinosaurs, Pachycephalosaurs and even an Augustynolophus carried this trait! The Augustynolophus find is of particular interest as an indicator that perhaps other non-theropods may have this feature, as well. Research will Continue!
David the Tyrannosaur demonstrates his prowess with the bow by launching 3 of his Love Arrows. Check out posts February 8, 2019 “Raptor Cupids?” https://www.paulsprehistoricpark.com/?p=3174 , February 7, 2020 “The Raptor Cupids are Back!” https://www.paulsprehistoricpark.com/?p=4529 & February 6, 2021 “Cupidsauroidea!” https://www.paulsprehistoricpark.com/?p=5483 for the making of the different sizes of bows & arrows.
Stegosaurs Stanley & Stephanie return to where the first met for Romantic reflections. New discoveries are frequently made that reflect how flashy dinosaurs really were. Horns, Frills, Sails, Bright Colors & Feathers All to Impress a Mate. Check out “Dinosaurs New Visions of a Lost World” by Michael J. Benton for the latest on how we now believe many Dinosaurs appeared. Valentine’s Day is Every Day with Dinosaurs!
There are many accounts for the origin of Valentine’s Day. One written account of Saint Valentine references his imprisonment by Rome for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and ministering to Christians persecuted by the Roman Empire. In the 14th Century in Geoffrey Chaucer circles it became associated with Romantic Love. In the 18th Century in England, it grew into a special occasion for couples to express their love by presenting flowers, candy and cards (known as valentines). Valentine’s Day is a Great Time to connect with Friends and Family. However You Celebrate, make it a Special Day for Sharing & Kindness.
Happy Valentine’s Day
