She’s coming! She’s Big! Our newest resident of the Park hails from Moon Valley Nurseries in Fillmore. Remember my visit to Moon Valley Nurseries – post dated June 9, 2023 “Look Up!” Becca & Amanda at Moon Valley Nurseries made this adoption possible. Even at 21.5 feet long and about 11 feet in height (7 feet at the hip, which is the standard for measuring height in Dinosaurs), She’s half the size of an Adult T-Rex! A T-Rex of this size needs her Perch ready before She arrives.
After clearing a 10 foot by 10 foot area, weed blocking cloth was laid out. Miscellaneous branches held it in place while awaiting the gravel topping. Lisa & Mira at Peach Hill Soils in Moorpark & Somis assisted me with obtaining the gravel I needed – One Cubic Yard of “Desert Fire”. Lisa suggested purchasing storage containers to fit in the bed of a pick-up to make transporting the gravel easier on site. U-Haul provided the 8 foot bed pickup and Home Depot the Ten 27 gallon HDX storage containers that filled the truck bed almost perfectly. Very little gravel spilled outside the containers making cleanup of the pickup quick & easy. My jumbo platform truck allowed me to get the gravel filled containers to exactly where I needed to dump the gravel. After cleanup the storage containers nest inside each other (same with the lids) therefore taking up little space in the garage until they’re needed again. Plus, they were on Sale over Father’s Day Weekend. A little raking and the perch is ready for the new Dinosaur. Trees were trimmed and the Triceratops, Christopher & Paul were moved off their Perches and far to the sides of their area to clear a path for the new arrival to reach her spot.
Last Thursday Morning the Moon Valley Nurseries’ Crew – Mauricio, Carlos, Alan, Angel & Mario arrived with the huge T-Rex. Their 26 foot flatbed truck was a crew cab, which was much longer than I expected. Fortunately, I had cleared a wide pathway to the new Perch. These guys literally put their backs into getting her off the truck. The truck had a liftgate but the T-Rex’s metal base frame is 7 feet long by 6 feet wide. Backs, Ropes & Steady Hands brought her safely to ground. I closed my eyes at times in fear of what could happen, but no worries the Team came through! I had a very long not in use PVC Pipe that I provided the guys to assist moving her from where they brought her down from the truck to her Perch. Again, with Backs, Ropes & Steady Hands the Moon Valley Nurseries’ Team slid her frame across the PVC pipe to her New Forever Home. Thanks Guys for a Fantastic Job!
Check my Needing Rescue/Adoption Page for other Dinosaurs at Moon Valley Nurseries looking for new homes. Thanks again Mario & Chrystal for stopping by to visit the Park in May and sharing your Dinosaur Discoveries. Without You our newest resident would still be looking for her Forever Home! Now she needs a Name. I’m planning a special get together with Friends & Families. I think it will be Fun to let the Kids give her an awesome name! You can email your suggestions to paul@paulsprehistoricpark.com We’ll see which one she chooses.
Last week we had three more Surprise Visitors Corinne and her grandkids Alexis & Benjamin. Corinne lives nearby and has seen the Prehistoric Pals at play while driving passed on many occasions. Corinne’s grandkids were visiting from Texas and heading home the next day. The Prehistoric Pals & I were happy to welcome them to the Park and test their Dinosaur knowledge. It was Great Fun for All!

I used watercolors to make Dinosaur Designs on my N95 Masks. I couldn’t get a yes or no from 3M regarding any impact this might have to the effectiveness of the mask. Many Museums sell Dinosaur Themed Masks Check them Out!
