While we await the arrival of the Dinosaur Wizards, we have fun working on Halloween Crafts. September’s Book for the 5th graders from Reading to Kids was “Minerva Keen’s Detective Club” by James Patterson. Our Craft involved creating creepy crawlers, which is perfect for Halloween. Check out www.readingtokids.org maybe this can be an organization for you to volunteer!
Last Years Haunted Houses with Dinosaurs Craft is Back! All you need are 4 pieces of construction paper – Black, Yellow, White and your choice of color for the doors, scissors, stick glue, invisible tape, short pieces of wire (or pipe cleaners), marker, white gelly roll pen, pencil and/or crayon. Fold the Black piece of construction paper in half and the halves toward the center making 4 panels. Use a crayon or pencil to create the roof shapes in each panel. Then cut them out with the scissors. Now you have your four walls. Use the Yellow construction paper to make your window designs. I used Brown for the doors. Cut them out and attach them with the stick glue.
A black marker is a great tool for finishing the details on the windows & doors. A pencil, artist pen and markers are used to add a black cat, a spider and Dinosaurs on the windows. You can make bats from the scraps of black paper and a ghost from the white paper. I searched online for images of both to provide inspiration for my drawings. I made 5 bats of various sizes. The white gelly roll pen made the eyes for the bats. The invisible tape attaches the wires to the house as well as the bats & ghost to the other ends. I started with the smallest bat and worked to the largest going away from the house to give the look that the bats are flying towards you. Using the same Black Cardstock you can make the Spiders and other Creepy Crawlers Scarier. This year a few Larger Bats take Flight. Yellow & Red Construction Paper for the eyes of the larger Creatures. White Gelly Roll Pen for the details and eyes on the smaller ones. Using the wire in the Haunted House helps the Bats Fly Higher and the Crawlers to Jump! Every time I make a craft, new ideas pop in my head for how to improve the next one!
It’s amazing what you can find in your own back yard. A complete shed snake skin wanders between the Haunted Houses on Dinosaur Hill. A Ghost Snake!
Even simple Brown Paper Bags can make Fun Halloween Crafts. First draw your image Pumpkin, Spider, Haunted House, Ghost or Hatching Dinosaur! Color with markers, crayons, pencils or watercolors. Make a few cut-outs to let the light shine through. Set a battery powered tea candle inside the bag and enjoy day & night.
Corinne who brought her grandkids from Texas in June, returned this month with her son & more grandkids! These family members were vacationing from Louisianna. And what’s more fun than a Park Full of Dinosaurs?
Karson, Camille, Corinne, Pierce & Parker spent a moment with Sasha. Despite Sasha’s Size, She is half that of a Full Grown T-Rex. The Grandkids hangout with Jerry the Velociraptor. We talked about the different types of Raptors, as well as movie dinosaurs vs. the Dinosaurs that ruled the Earth Millions of years ago. David the T-Rex and Parker have a ROARING Contest! Camille Roars with Hobbes while Pierce & Karson calm Calvin. After meeting all the Prehistoric Pals outside, we ventured inside to visit Kevin & Dominic – T-Rexes, Hobbes twin, Brandie the Brachiosaurus, Antonio the Pterosaur, Delores del Rio Dilophosaurus, Xiuhcoatl the Aztec Dragon of Fire & Lightening and finally Alejandro the T-Rex looking out the Window. They all received a preview of the Halloween Crafts we’re creating too!

I used watercolors to make Dinosaur Designs on my N95 Masks. I couldn’t get a yes or no from 3M regarding any impact this might have to the effectiveness of the mask. Many Museums sell Dinosaur Themed Masks Check them Out!
