Preparations have been under way for a great Thanksgiving meal. I brined a turkey breast. I found a recipe online for how to brine a turkey. I been using it ever since. Previously I used it with a large turkey that required a 5-gallon bucket to soak in overnight. Keeping such a large container chilled was problematic. So, I started purchasing boneless turkey breasts – Butterball brand of course – which made it much easier to brine in my refrigerator. Besides, I really don’t like all the other parts of the turkey. Nor do I enjoy having to make all that extra room in the frig for the carcass and later having to dispose of it.
Oh my! I just looked at the printout for the recipe I have been using. It’s dated 2004! I think I should see what’s new for next year. I love to experiment in the kitchen. Everyone is checking out the turkey before it goes in the oven. {Except the 9 1/2 foot long Triceratops, Christopher and Paul. They are outside clearing some brush for me.} I placed a couple of plates on top of the turkey to keep if fully submerged in the brine.
Marc the young triceratops is more interested in the salad. Spinach & Kale, with walnuts, sliced apples, currants, broccoli, carrots, feta cheese, drizzled with Raspberry Pomegranate dressing and a few pieces of multi-grain sourdough bread. Yum! I do hope Marc will share!
Well, it’s time to eat. We have a lot to be Thankful for. This month is the 1st year Anniversary of my blog! Thousands of you have been checking it out each month. I hope you are finding it informative, but most of all Fun! The last couple of months I have been successful with weekly posts. I intend to keep it that way to give you something else to long forward to on the weekend. I’m working on a logo and of course more dinosaurs to join the park. As they said in Jurassic World, “More teeth!” My October visit to the Anza-Borrego Desert’s Metal Sculptures has inspired me to design some life size dinosaurs. Welding isn’t one of my talents. Therefore, I will be working with a metal artist to make my ideas come to life. I am a painter and metal dinosaurs are my canvas. I’m looking forward to locating more artists and having discussions with paleontologists and science writers in the field. And Marc needs to get his makeover too! Lots to do before the end of the year and looking forward to many more projects in 2017. Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2017.
Happy Thanksgiving
