Raphael makes heart shape brownies from a recipe my Grandmother & Mother used when I was a little kid. Using Bisquick instead of flour makes them rise. I’m not sure if the recipe came from the side of a box of Bisquick or not, it was so many years ago. I’ve attached the recipe for those that have a sweet tooth. While they cool consider adding a few chocolate chips to the top. As they chocolate chips melt using a knife, you can spread them in the shape of little hearts. This helps the red sprinkles stick to the top of the brownies.
Fudge Squares (Bisquick Brownies)
2 squares unsweetened chocolate or 6 Tablespoons Cocoa
¼ Cup Butter 2 Eggs
1 Cup Sugar 1 ¼ Cups Bisquick
½ Cup Chopped Nuts 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Heat oven to 350 (I have a Viking Range so 325 is best for me). Melt chocolate, butter. Mix in sugar, eggs, bisquick, nuts & vanilla. Spread in 8 or 9 inch square pan (greased or pam – cooking spray). Bake 30 minutes. Yum!
Frosting
3 Tablespoons Cocoa 3 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
¼ Stick Butter 3 Tablespoons Milk
Melt to boil careful not to burn. Add:
2 teaspoons Vanilla ½ Box Powdered Sugar
Stir until Powdered Sugar completely blended.
Thin with Water
Raphael brings in the finished brownies for all. Dominic picked up some See’s candies – my favorites Dark Chocolate Boudreaux, Butter Cream and Truffle. Antonio flew to Paris and back again this year. Visiting our favorite Chocolatier. Rich Parisian Chocolate! What could be finer? Marc, the Triceratops, takes a break from his makeover to join the fun (see posts February 3rd & 10th 2017 Triceratops Marc – Wire Brushing & Acid Washing – “the beginning of the makeover” Triceratops Marc – Rust Reformer, Primer & Painting – Decisions, Decisions).
Flowers make every occasion special. You can’t go wrong with Roses! Although, Antonio loves Bird of Paradise!
Music to complete the mood. The Dinosaurs love classical music. Some of them had to wait for over 100 million years to hear it! Fortunately, we can hear it daily on KUSC or if out of the area you can stream the classics at kusc.org. We support the Arts and one way is donating to KUSC. We love Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini. The theme music for the movie classic “Somewhere in Time” with Christopher Reeve & Jane Seymour. A beautiful love story. Our second favorite is – Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto #1 in B Flat Minor Op. 23. KUSC is having a membership drive this week help them continue to provide the classics to everyone!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
